Abstract
Private debt (PD) has grown substantially. It represents an asset class with 1.3 trillion US dollars in assets under management and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.4% over the next years, set to become the second-largest asset class after private equity (PE). The article summarizes the results of recent studies that evaluate the absolute and relative performance of this important asset class.
