Abstract

The Netherlands is considering reforms related to the electoral system, the workings of the bicameral system and the constitutional amendment procedure in order to enhance both the representativeness of the Lower House and the corrective role of the Upper House. Whether the proposed reforms will pass procedural hurdles for constitutional amendment and effectively address the challenges Dutch democracy is facing remains to be seen.
