Abstract

The three essays collected in this PhD thesis reflect the power of retailers vis-à-vis
the suppliers, covering three different areas where retailers engage in activities
that disrupt the market: the enforcement of a sustainability mandate on suppliers
by a dominant retailer, retailers’ introduction of pioneering PL innovations as well
as PL copycats of pioneering NB innovations, and the strategic delisting of brands
from the assortment of a retailer.
