Abstract
Christian lay communities are sometimes labeled as being in a sense 'monastic' even though they are not traditionally structured as a monastery. In this short contribution, I narrate how the tumultuous daily life of the lay community 'Oudezijds 100' in Amsterdam is anything but contemplative. Yet, monastic or not, its community life is structured around the daily prayers.
