Abstract
The two biggest issues confronting universities in the last year are the threat of AI and the genocide in Palestine. Maybe it goes without saying, but these are very different things, involving very different kinds of analysis by very different kinds of academics with very different concerns. In my experience, to be interested in one is to be disinterested in the other and while this often results from a decision about where best to focus one’s attention, I also think this kind of zero-sum thinking glosses over something deeper about the relationship between the two.
