Abstract

For more than 13 years now, the Dutch National Atlas of Public Health and Health Care (www.zorgatlas.nl) is the most comprehensive reference for geographic information about health care and public health in the Netherlands. The Atlas is part of the Dutch Public Health Status and Forecast report (PHSF), created by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Together with the Dutch National Public Health Compass (www.nationaalkompas.nl) it is an important source of information and knowledge for policy makers and researchers. The general objective of the PHSF-report is: to provide an overview and analysis of the available data in the field of public health, once every four years, for the Dutch Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport.
