The experience industry and the creation of attractions

    Abstract

    This paper analyses the changing nature of European cultural attractions, and examines their role in the experience economy (the economic sector that produces experiences (e.g. entertainment) for consumers). The following themes are also addressed: experience production policies; the growth of museums; and the shift from cultural tourism to creative tourism.
