Abstract
The conclusion of Regulation (EU) 2019/1149 led to the establishment of the European Labour Authority (ELA) as a decentralised operational agency. The founding Regulation is clear about the competences. ELA is supposed to ensure fair and effective labour mobility across the EU and to assist Member States and the European Commission in the coordination of social security systems in the EU. ELA ended a first term and entered a new term in 2024, now with full capacity. In this paper, the author highlights relevant steps in recent years. This paper is not a political evaluation; this evaluation is planned later in 2024. Yet, the paper ends with some personal comments.
