Abstract
The rapid worldwide digitalization of our societies can be understood as a socio-cultural development based on a technical invention with almost unimaginable applications in all dimensions of life. It also affects the life of the church, especially in respect to the exercise of authority, its organizational model, and catholicity. In this contribution, the A. focuses on the impact of digitalization on synodality and discernment. Digitalization may be helpful in preparing synods or the consultation of experts, but it may also have some negative consequences on the synodal experience.
